Product Information

A rare Georgian silver plated spring-action scissor type candle snuffer/wick trimmer.  Dates early 1800s.
The snuffer is decorated with floral patterns in relief, with ornately patterned handles and scallop shell cartouches on the finger grips. The boss has a flower pattern head.
The snuffer works well, and sits on ball feet, which are all intact.  There is wear commensurate with age and use over the past 200+ years, with some loss of plate and scratches to the underside.  The spring action works perfectly.
During - and before - Georgian times these tools were used to snuff out the candle and the small receptacle caught the trimmed bit of wick.
They have become sought after again today with the popularity of candles - and scented candles - in home decor.

Please note this is a unique antique item and there is only one available.

Dimensions:  Length: 19.5 cm/ 7.7 inches
