A lovely vintage gold-plated necklace with integral pendant in the form of a heart, by Christian Dior.
Beautifully crafted, the central heart shaped crystal is surrounded by clear round Swarovski crystals.
Dates 1980s. Signed Chr. Dior © Germany on reverse.
Dimensions: Length: 15 inches, extending to 17 inches with extender chain.
Pendant 1.4 cm x 1.3 cm at /just over 1/2 " x 1/2" approx. at widest point.
The necklace will be supplied in an eco box with pink ribbon.
Christian Dior (1905-1957) was one of the most celebrated couturiers of the 20th century. In 1947 Dior launched the 'New Look' collection celebrating ultra-femininity and glamour in women's fashion, which appealed to the mood of post-war society. Christian Dior launched his first collection of fashion jewellery to complement his garments in 1948.
In 1955 Christian Dior granted the exclusive license to manufacture his jewellery designs to Henkel and Grosse, based in the famous goldsmith town of Pforzheim Germany; Henkel and Grosse held the license for 50 years, until 2005, when the company was taken over by Dior. The jewellery made during this time was very high quality, made from gold plated and rhodium plated metal. Such pieces from those years can be recognized by the markings 'Chr. Dior' © Germany. Christian Dior jewellery is very collectable today.
Please note this is a vintage necklace and there is only one available. As a pre-loved vintage piece it may have minor flaws and is in very good condition commensurate with its age.
