This is a beautiful Butler & Wilson brooch fashioned in the form of a pansy.

Beautifully detailed, the three dimensionsal brooch is crafted in gold tone metal with purple and yellow enamel featuring realistic markings.  The brooch is centred with an aurora borealis crystal. 

As with all Butler & Wilson jewellery it is as beautifully finished on the back as the front, with floral motifs.

The brooch bears the Butler & Wilson in a circular cartouche on the reverse. It closes with a secure rollover clasp.

The pansy is rich with symbolism: it represents thought, love and remembrance in folklore, deriving its name from the French word pensée. In mythology, the wild pansy was linked to the god cupid, with its juice fabled as a love potion.

The brooch is in its original box and is in excellent condition, possibly unworn.
