Christian Dior (1905-1957) was one of the most celebrated couturiers of the 20th century. In 1947, he introduced the iconic "New Look" collection, which celebrated ultra-femininity and glamour in women's fashion, perfectly capturing the spirit of post-war society. The following year, in 1948, Dior expanded his vision by launching his first collection of fashion jewellery to complement his designs.

In 1955, Dior granted an exclusive license to Henkel and Grosse, a prestigious jewellery manufacturer based in the renowned goldsmith town of Pforzheim, Germany. This partnership lasted for 50 years, until 2005, when Dior took full control of the jewellery production. During this period, the tradition of adding dates to Dior jewellery began in 1956 and continued through the 1970s. The jewellery crafted by Henkel and Grosse was renowned for its exceptional quality, made from gold-plated and rhodium-plated metals.
