This is a really beautiful art nouveau design silver-plated necklace with a deep blue faceted aqua/blue topaz coloured drop pendant.

In very good condition commensurate with its age.  

Dimensions: chain: 17" (43 cm) long. Pendant 5 cm x 2.5 cm (just over 2" x 1")

Art nouveau refers to the period 1895-1905 and can be briefly summarised as feminine, artistic, botanical. Often inspired by nature - dragonflies, butterflies, flowers -  the materials used were chosen for their aesthetic properties, rather than just their monetary value. Artists and designers wanted to demonstrate that jewellery could be valued for its physical beauty alone, regardless of the cost of the component pieces.
