A stunning mid-century treasure from Rhode Island's prestigious M. & S. Jewelry Mfg. Co. This exquisite gold-filled floral brooch captures the feminine glamour of the 1950s with its romantic design and exceptional sparkle
Luminous champagne-coloured marquise crystals form elegant petals around a cluster of aurora borealis rhinestones that shimmer with rainbow fire. Nestled beneath each petal, pale lemon crystals add depth to the three-dimensional design, while ornate openwork scrolls adorned with clear crystals create an enchanting frame.
In very good condition commensurate with its age, with all stones intact.
Please note this is a vintage brooch and there is only one available.
M. & S. Jewelry Mfg. Co., Inc. was founded in the mid-1940s in East Providence, Rhode Island, USA, and operated for just over two decades,The company specialised in Art Deco style pieces, creating sophisticated, almost filigree-like jewelry using 10-12 carat gold filled materials with an abundance of stones and complex-cut crystals.
The jewelry went out of production in the early 1960s and is now very collectible.
Gold filled jewelleryis a premium quality technique where a substantial layer of real gold (in this case, 12K) is permanently bonded to a base metal core. Unlike gold plating which can wear off, gold filled pieces feature a layer 50-100 times thicker that won't flake or peel. This is why vintage M&S brooches from the 1940s-50s still maintain their beautiful lustre today. Gold filled jewellery is highly prized by collectors as it offers the durability and elegance of solid gold at a more accessible price point, making it far superior to standard costume jewellery.
