A charming prancing foal enamel brooch set with marcasites dating circa late 1950/1960s. The designer has captured the movement of the pony beautifully.
Crafted in soft grey enamel, set with marcasites with emerald-coloured paste eye. With rollover clasp.
In excellent condition with all stones intact.
The brooch is almost certainly by BJL, Bohemian Jewellers Ltd., designers of enamel and marcasite jewellery. The company was formed in Birmingham in 1946 and joined forces with Ellisons & Co. Ltd in the 1960s. Their designs are very collectable today. Not all pieces are signed.
