A vintage iconic Yves Saint Laurent abstract heart brooch. The central textured heart is surrounded by polished gold metal with black cursive text reading 'Yves Saint Laurent'.

Signed YSL on reverse. With rollover clasp.

Dimensions: 4 cm (1.5 inches) at widest point.

Beautifully crafted and in excellent vintage condition commensurate with its age, which dates 1980s.

The heart has been the emblem of the House of Saint Laurent since the 1960s. Yves Saint Laurent is quoted as saying 'without an elegance of the heart, there is no elegance' and each season a heart was placed on his favourite model on the runway; thus the heart became a symbol of the house, seen across heritage and contemporary design.
