Antique Sterling Silver & Connemara Marble Shamrock Brooch, 1916

Product Information

Celebrate vintage sporting elegance with this beautiful antique sterling silver brooch, designed in the form of a classic tennis racket.

The racket is entwined with a lucky three-leaf shamrock, its leaves heart-shaped, inlaid with green Connemara marble and with engine-turned grip lines along the handle. Found exclusively in the West of Ireland, this distinctive stone displays rich, natural mossy tones.

Novelty sports jewellery was highly fashionable from the late Victorian era onwards and remains very collectible today. Dated 1916, this brooch perfectly encapsulates the lawn tennis obsession of the early 20th century.

In good condition commensurate with its age. Fastens with a traditional antique open "C" clasp and the characteristically long steel pin of the period, which extends beyond the brooch body in the manner of antique pieces. The pin carries the natural patina you would expect of a piece of this age.

A wonderful gift for a tennis enthusiast, collector of Irish heritage jewellery, or lover of antique accessories
