Product Information
This is a stunning Butler & Wilson cicada brooch from the 1980s - a fabulous collector's piece.
The striking cicada brooch is crafted in gold-tone metal with dramatic black enamel detailing. It features a sculptural body embellished with golden beads and black crystals.
This exceptional piece is featured in Vivienne Becker's seminal book on Butler & Wilson, 'Rough Diamonds', published in 1990 (please refer to image).
The brooch beautifully captures the Art Deco Egyptian Revival aesthetic that was so iconic in the 1980s. The design draws heavily from ancient Egyptian jewellery motifs - the bold geometric divisions, the black and gold colour scheme, and the striking parallel lines are classic hallmarks of both ancient Egyptian art and the Art Deco movement's fascination with it.

A statement piece that exemplifies the theatrical glamour of Butler & Wilson's 1980s costume jewellery.
