A vintage Kenneth Jay Lane classic double-strand necklace.

This lovely piece features luminous, high-quality glass pearls and closes with a lobster clasp.

The pearls are an elegant, multi-tone mix in subtle shades of cream, ivory, soft pink and mauve. The pearls have a beautiful high-lustre finish that radiates a subtle iridescence.

The necklace is in excellent condition.

Length: 43 cm, 47 cm | 17", 18.5"

It comes with an extender chain, beautifully finished with a pearl, allowing the length to be increased an additional 7 cm | 2.75".

'Elegance, luxury and good taste never go out of style', said Kenneth Jay Lane (1932–2017), a renowned American jewellery designer who made faux jewels fashionable. He initially trained as a fashion designer, working with high profile brands such as Christian Dior and set up his own label in 1963. He rose to prominence when Wallis Simpson, Duchess of Windsor, started to wear his designs, which led to a clientele including Audrey Hepburn, Greta Garbo, Jacqueline Kennedy, Princess Diana and many more. His designs continue to attract modern celebrities.

A faux-pearl necklace with a crystal clasp created by designer Kenneth Jay Lane for Jacqueline Kennedy sold at Sotheby's for in excess of $200,000. Lane once remarked that Kennedy wasn’t especially concerned with owning expensive jewellery, saying she kept her valuable pieces in the bank.
