Product Information
A beautiful example of mid-century Scandinavian silversmithing, this sterling silver and guilloché enamel brooch was crafted by Norwegian silversmith Arne Nordlie, circa 1950s.
The scalloped circular brooch features a finely engine-turned wave pattern beneath a translucent white enamel glaze, hand-painted with three vibrant pink rose blooms and delicate green foliage. Quintessentially romantic, yet unmistakably Nordic.
The reverse has a dimpled finish and is stamped with Nordlie's circular "AND" maker's mark and 925S for sterling silver. The original roll-over safety catch is secure and fully functioning.
Weight: 8.0g.
In excellent condition. The enamel is immaculate with no chips, cracks or flaking.
Arne Nordlie (1908-1995) trained at the prestigious Oslo firm J. Tostrup before establishing his own workshop in 1943. He became celebrated for his enamel jewellery and floral brooches, and the firm continues under family ownership to this day. His pieces are increasingly sought after as Scandinavian mid-century silver and enamel are enjoying a resurgence with collectors.
