Product Information
A beautifully crafted sterling silver tennis racquet brooch, featuring a finely detailed string face with a raised ball at the centre and elegant ribbing to the handle grip.
A charming novelty piece from the golden age of British lawn tennis, made in the mid-1930s when Wimbledon was at the height of its glamour and Fred Perry was winning his legendary titles. A wonderful find for silver collectors and tennis enthusiasts alike.
With hallmarks for Birmingham 1936.
The reverse retains its original long pin fitting, typical of the period.
In good condition commensurate with its 90-year history, showing only very light surface wear and character marks consistent with age. The maker's mark is rubbed and no longer legible, as is common on pieces of this age. The remaining hallmarks (lion passant, anchor, date letter) are legible.
