In 1947 Dior launched the 'New Look' collection celebrating ultra-femininity and glamour in women's fashion, which appealed to the mood of post-war society. Christian Dior launched his first collection of fashion jewellery to complement his garments in 1948.

In 1955 Christian Dior granted the exclusive license to manufacture his jewellery designs to Henkel and Grosse, based in the famous goldsmith town of Pforzheim Germany;  Henkel and Grosse held the license for 50 years, until 2005, when the company was taken over by Dior.
